Harambee Schools Kenya (HSK) is a registered UK charity; co-founded by Rob Breare and Will Snell in 1999, after both had spent six months in Kenya teaching on a gap year placement.

They had no experience at all of running a charity, but both had hands-on knowledge of the needs on the ground in Kenya, and of the educational system and so HSK begun.

Rob and Will handed over the charity to a board of trustees in 2014 and now the charity is run by a full-time CEO, overseen by an experienced board of trustees plus a network of volunteers.
