Kahuho Primary School AN INTRODUCTION Kahuho Primary School was founded in 1972 in a former colonial farmhouse, which now serves as the school office, staff room and library. The school is a feeder school for our Ngecho Secondary School and is currently number one in the county (Oct 2019) – something we are very proud of! WHAT HAVE WE DONE? This is HSK’s flagship primary school, completing the conversion of the former workshop to provide 3 classrooms; improved some of the other classrooms, overhauled the water harvesting, built a new stone water tank, built boys and girls toilets, provided furniture for classrooms and staff room, refurbished its library and created a school lunch programme, providing a hot meal to over 400 students every day for the last three years. WHAT’S THE PLAN? We need to complete the improvement of 3 original classrooms – concreting the floors, plastering walls and inserting window frames. We also need to supplement the school feeding programme with the creation of a school shamba (garden); to grow fruits and vegetables. We also need to buy a giko wood burner that will help the parents cook the food each day, rather than on open fires that cause smoke damage to their eyes.
