Fill a Bowl Donate Fundraise For many children in Kenya, having a school lunch is the difference between getting an education and not. School feeding programs are targeted social safety nets that provide both educational and health benefits to the most vulnerable children, thereby increasing enrolment rates, reducing absenteeism, and improving food security at the household level. Research shows that providing in-school meals can alleviate short-term hunger, increase children’s abilities to concentrate, learn, perform specific tasks, and has been linked to an increase in the enrolment of girls. These effects seem to be greater among children who are also chronically undernourished, usually the poorest children. The HSK School Lunch Programme provides a suitable meal for every child, each day of the school term. By fundraising money to purchase food from local farmers and supporting the school community to grow their own produce to create a sustainable programme for years to come. We are on a mission to keep hunger out of the classroom and children in it because we believe that school lunches are an essential tool for the development and growth for not only the children but communities and society as a whole. It costs just £15 to feed a year to feed one child – that’s just 11p per meal!
