Fundraise for HSK

There are a huge number of ways that you can raise money to support HSK. We have listed some ideas below, but you may have ideas of your own!

Unfortunately we can't provide expenses or manpower to help you as our resources are limited, but we can provide you with advice and also with fundraising materials such as brochures, newsletters and pictures. We can also provide you with a dedicated fundraising page on our website, which will allow you to receive credit card donations online - we will track how much your sponsors have donated and you can choose how the money is spent.

If you don't want to organise an event, why not set up a page as a wedding list, or set up a page and ask people to donate money instead of giving you Christmas presents?

If you would like us to set up a personalised webpage or send you materials, or if you just want to let us know that you are going to raise money for HSK, please contact us.

Thanks for your support!

Sponsored job swap

Sponsor the boss to work on reception for an hour

Company matching

Ask your company if they are willing to match your fundraising total

At university / college Back to top

Balls and University events

Ask the organisers to make a donation to HSK, or ask them if you can sell raffle tickets or run your own cocktail stand to raise money

Students’ Union

Ask your Students’ Union to give a donation to HSK (most have money set aside for charities which their students are supporting)

Rich & poor meal

Organise a meal where everyone pays the same amount but guests enter a ballot where some receive a sumptuous 3 course meal and others just a bowl of rice

Slave auction

Auction off friends as slaves for the day. You could also try auctioning a whole sports team to the highest bidder!

RAG

Make an application to your university RAG committee nominating HSK to be one of this year's recipient charities (we can help you with this)

Fashion show

Buy clothes from charity shops for a fashion show with student models, sell tickets and then auction off clothes at the end of the evening

At home Back to top

Write to local organisations and companies - perhaps a large local employer, or your local church, asking them to make a donation to HSK (we can provide you with fundraising materials and the necessary information)

In the community Back to top

BBQ / summer party

Ask everyone to pay £2 to come along and bring some food with them

Concert

Put together a concert or talent show and sell tickets to neighbours, friends and family

Treasure hunt

Organise a treasure hunt for people in your neighbourhood; charge people for entry and offer prizes for the winners

Car boot sale

Sell off your unwanted goods and donate part or all of the proceeds to HSK

Book group

Organise a regular book group in your community and charge a membership fee

Sports / adventure Back to top

Run a marathon

Collect sponsorship from friends and family for HSK (in the past people have run the London and Edinburgh marathons for HSK, and also the Lewa Marathon in Kenya)

Climb a mountain

As above; in the past people have climbed Mount Kilimanjaro for HSK, but if you wanted to stay closer to home you could always try Snowdon or Ben Nevis!

Sports day

Organise a competitive sporting event (or series of events) and charge people to take part

Drive across Africa

Buy an old Land Rover, get it kitted out in HSK colours, invite the local press, and get friends and family to sponsor you to drive from Tangier to Cape Town
